PHYTOCHEMISTRY AND MICROBIAL METABOLITES

    Alt Text

Our phytochemistry research focuses on developing modern methodologies for the isolation, identification, and characterization of secondary metabolites from plants and microorganisms. Classical isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites encompassing various modern separation methods and spectroscopic techniques such as Preparative Recycling Liquid Chromatography, Preparative HPLC, UPLC, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Single Crystal XRD, High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry, and Circular Dichroism.

Additionally, our laboratory is involved in developing dereplication strategies for rapidly identifying structurally related compounds within complex mixtures. Using the Orbitrap platform coupled with LC-MSn, plant and microbial extracts are analyzed, and the resulting fragmentation patterns are compared against an in-house database of previously recorded pure compounds. This approach enhances efficiency in identifying target compounds without laborious isolation steps.
